Minimize Genetically Modified Foods - Take Some Action

Since the U.S. does not require foods to be labeled if they are genetically modified, it’s hard to know how to provide your students with non GM foods. One of the easiest ways and only ways to know for sure if the food’s ingredients have been genetically modified is to buy local where you can ask the farmer if they used genetically modified seeds and varieties.

For the products you can’t purchase locally and ask questions about, check out the Center for Food Safety’s True Food Shopping Guide, which can help you find and avoid genetically engineered ingredients.
